THURSDAY, DECEMBER 21, 2006. SANTIAGO, CHILE. I am presently in Santiago, Chile's large metropolitan capital. My plans are to spend a few days here and make arrangements for my next destination, probably Bolivia.
Last night, I met up with Steven and Franz, and Cathy and Caroline (two French Canadians from Franz's hostel dorm) for dinner and drinks in Barrio Bellavista, Santiago's bohemian neighborhood known for its restaurants.
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2006. SANTIAGO, CHILE. Having recently been to the southern most city in the world (Ushuaia, Argentina), I am now headed tomorrow to La Paz, Bolivia, which, at 3660 meters, is the highest capital city in the world. I'm taking the risk of getting altitude sickness by flying straight in, but for me it's preferable than spending several days on a bus.
