On The Road (Oklahoma City, OK)
Apr 5, 2013
|Traveling for the fourth consecutive day was not something we looked forward to, but we managed to be ready to go, and pulled out of Oasis RV Park in Amarillo, Texas right at 8:30 this morning.
At least we remained in the same time zone all day today!
We made one fuel stop and arrived at Twin Fountains RV Park in Oklahoma City at 2:15 this afternoon.
The traffic was heavy all day but Marilyn did great following in her car.
We were soon checked in and all set up in Site E-22. This is a nice long pull-through site with room for parking of the truck and the car behind the RV.
We took time to make sure we were going to be comfortable and then took off again to locate a place called the “Steak & Catfish Barn”, about 15 miles away, where we could get all of the fried catfish we could eat.
Adam Richman from “Man vs. Food” once set the bar by eating 29 pieces of catfish here but the record now is 44 pieces set by a coach from somewhere nearby.
We must admit that the Catfish was awesome!
I enjoyed 8 pieces while Marilyn ate six of them. The side dishes were ok but nothing to brag about, but that Catfish…..Wow!
We made a quick stop at Walmart to pick up a few items and fuel the car.
Now we are settled in and relaxing with no agenda for tomorrow at all.
Sunday we’ll move to Natural Falls State Park near the Oklahoma / Arkansas state line, for one night and then on Monday we’ll be in Springdale, AR for some work on the RV.
We still hope to be in Hannibal next Wednesday.
