This morning I drove over to Val White’s place and rode with her and Richard Emerson to Val’s church, Bannockburn Baptist, to hear their Singing Christmas Tree, Part I (“The Music of the Season”). It was very well done. They will present Part II (“The Majesty of the Season” with the Annie Moses Band) and Part III (“The Miracle of the Season”) over the next two Sundays. (www.sctaustin.com)
After church we and Val’s daughter Cindy and son-in-law met Val’s other son-in-law Mikail at Shady Grove Restaurant for lunch. We had a table by the fireplace. After lunch we all went to Mikail’s condo on the fourth floor of The Bridges at the Park -- on South Lamar (not far from Pecan Grove RV Park). Val took a pineapple pie which we all enjoyed with coffee. Mikail has a nice view of downtown Austin from his living room window and patio. Next to The Bridges is the Paggi House, which was built in 1840, the same year that Austin became a town. Over the last fifteen years or so it has housed various restaurants owned by different people.
