Wanderings and Side Trips travel blog

We arrived at our daughter's home in McPherson on Sunday evening, Sept 3. We spent an enjoyable day with them on Labor Day and then Wes had a dentist appointment early on Tuesday morning. After that, we headed on west to the farm. We arrived to a beautiful green farm! It had rained quite a bit while we were gone. The rain is wonderful, but the down side is that things grow! The grass etc. was all really tall. So, right away we got out the mower and started mowing things. I got the yard done and Wes got the satellite set up. Then we started on mowing the outside of the yard. I have a system - I start at the house and mow outwards. This has two results. If there are any snakes in the yard, they will move out away from the mower - and they just keep on going as I mow further and further out. Also - by the time I get the whole farm mowed, I will have to start at the house again.

It was a busy week and before we knew it, it was time to go back to McPherson to the dentist. Wes was having dental surgery on Sept 14 and the dentist wanted us to stay in town until Monday in case there were any complications. He made it through his surgery with flying colors - no complications and not much pain.

While he was recuperating, my daughter and I went to the Hillsboro Arts and Crafts Fair. It is one of the best in the nation. It is also one of the few where only handmade craft items are allowed. They also have wonderful local foods. The best homemade chicken noodle soup is made by one of the churches there and we always have that. We took our insulated jug and brought enough home to have for supper.

All was well with Wes and we came back home on Tuesday, Sept 12.
