Winnie at Flamingo Lake RV Resort

We couldn't get any extra nights in or around the Cape Canaveral so we headed north through the Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island. I guess the impending launch of the Atlas rocket on Tuesday has drawn rocket watchers to the Space Coast to watch the night time launch. You probably need to anticipate the launch dates to get advanced reservations for RV sites in the area. This is the first time we driven US 1 in this area. I was surprised it was only lightly developed between Titusville and Daytona Beach. You can see that the decline of the the US space program has hurt the area with a lot of businesses closed. We jumped onto I95 at Daytona to avoid the congestion of the city on US 1. We drove to just north of Jacksonville and stopped at Flamingo Lake RV Resort. We have stayed here before, at least 6 times according to my Camping Club Membership Card. We'll be here one night before continuing north. Stay tuned.
