We got on the bus again and toured into town. We have a guide with us at all times and she takes us into town on a different route so she can explain what we are seeing and the history. Our first stop was at Washington Square. They have a arch there in memory of George Washington. This is also where the elite lived in the 1800's. After that we drove over to Pier 17 for a view of the waterfront and to have lunch in the Pier 17 Mall. From here we can see the Brooklyn Bridge and the Peking sailing boat. After lunch we drove over to the Vietnam War Memorial. It is a glass wall with letters to and from soldgers on it. They have a list of names on tablets of all the people from New York that died in the war. The youngest was 15 years old. He joined the marines when he was only 14 by altering his birth certificate. I found the memorial to be more moving than the national one in Washington DC. Then we bussed over to the Brooklyn Bridge where we got to walk to the center of the bridge for pictures. Afterwards we stopped under the bridge for ice cream. Then we were off to Little Italy where they were having a celebration, and then dinner. After dinner we finished of the day with the Broadway show Mary Poppins. It was a very good musical.
