SWITCH TO MARYLAND MAP
We left NJ and headed north on the Delaware Bay, which seemed odd since the aim was to get SOUTH. However, that is the route we had to take to get there, north on the Delaware Bay to the 14 mile long C&D Canal which connects the head of the Deleware Bay to the head of the Chesapeake Bay. We passed through Delaware in only 6 1/2 hours and were now in our 4th U.S. state, Maryland.
By 4 p.m. we were settled at the town dock in Cheapeake City, free for 24 hours. We did a little sightseeing and I made some home made postcards and put them in the mail while the Captain got the bbq going and tormented all our neighbours with the aroma of his famous jerk chicken.
We met a couple from Nova Scotia and chatted with them for a while. I called Natalie, my contact at Passagemaker Mag in Annapolis. That is tomorrow's destination and we plan to meet this woman who I have emailed so many times about the article I wrote about Georgian Bay for her magazine. It's a balmy evening here in Maryland and we're loving it!
