ROAD TRAIN!!!

We got up at the crack of dawn (hey, there's a pattern here!) for our sunrise cruise down the Yellow River and Alligator River. Lurching in the water were many saltwater crocs. CRICKEY!!!! One male one was a bit fearless. Instead of disappearing into the water as the boat approached (like the others did), this one got as much of its body up to the surface of the water and stretched itself out to block the boat. Pretty wild!

It was a bit creepy seeing all of them. One had only the tip of its snout sticking out of the water in the midst of lily pads and reeds. You really had to look closely to see it. Others were lying still at the edge of the water, blending into the muddy banks. They stared, unblinking, with a menacing smile. Eeek!

After the cruise, we stopped off at another location for more Aboriginal rock art before heading back to Darwin.

Darwin is a pretty small town. The downtown is just a few streets and has a small town feel. Lots of action on our block as there are many restaurants and pubs along the street where we are.
