Michelle and Charlie's Around the World Trip 2004-2005 travel blog

biking with friends

Last time I toured Washington, DC was with the Marine Corps Marathon. That was my second and I trained lot harder for it than for the first. Alas, warm weather came in that I did not factor in and I ended up running 40 sec slower (3:27) than in the first marathon. More, by the second half I was so pooped that I could not quite recognize the Washington Memorial on the right. So this visit was prone to be less traumatic.

We did not go to see all the usual sites; we have seen them lots of times before on previous trips to DC. We met Mika and Stan up and went for a bike ride along the Potomac river. There is a great path there. It is a lot like the one around the Charles River in Boston, although the ratio of runners v. bikers is the opposite (ie, more bikers than runners in DC).

Mika and Stan are wonderful people and it was nice to spend some time with them.
