We got away from the RV park around 8:15, as we had to pay this morning – office was closed yesterday. We drove through and up and over washes and ridges for almost all the miles we drove – it was a long haul, but through lovely country. The wildflowers were spectacular! Lemon yellow Indian Paintbrush, dark orange Indian Blanket, yellow daisies and a blue spike flower that set everything off. Lunch was at a rest area in Pecos Co, with birds singing everywhere – it was difficult to find time to eat when one has to constantly have binoculars to the eyes! It was the only place for miles around where there were trees of any height, so it was a bird magnet. After lunch, we walked around the entire area – a good find.

Arrived in Van Horn around 3:30 and were beat. To celebrate John’s upcoming birthday, we went out to the Van Horn Land and Cattle Co for a delicious steak dinner – outstanding way to begin the celebration. There will be more to come. We are crashed for a quiet night.
