Glasses & Fun in Mexico
Feb 12, 2013
|We were up at 4:00 this morning.
That gave us time for coffee, packing, and a shower.
We shut the water off and locked the door, then as quietly as possible, we pulled away from our resort at a quarter to 6:00.
We drove to Florence and then Coolidge, Arizona, reaching I-8 as daylight arrived a bit before 7:00.
We made a stop at Gila Bend to top off the fuel and grab a bite of breakfast at McDonalds.
It was 10:00 AM when we pulled in to the Hotel and saw Bob & Janet parked, waiting for us.
It was so nice to see their smiling faces again and we exchanged big hugs in greeting.
Trent & Teresa arrived a few minutes later and the hug routine was repeated.
Marilyn & I rode with Bob & Janet, with Trent & Teresa follwing right behind us, as we crossed into California and then turned south to Mexico.
The primary purpose of our trip was to get new glasses and our friends were good sports as they shopped while Marilyn & I spent several hours at Algodones Optical.
With the eye exams done, frames selected and prices agreed on, we walked with our friends, to a restaurant called La Parrilla.
I may not have the name correct but it was a fine choice as we sat outdoors in the bright sunshine, sipping a cold margarita and listening to the live music. We were all having fun, talking and laughing together, and then the food arrived.
The shrimp was huge and cooked perfectly. We all loved it so much that we decided to return to Mexico tomorrow, just to return to the same place, for the shrimp.
We were all quite happy as we walked back to the Optical place to pick up our glasses.
While Marilyn & I did that, our friends picked up a few item we needed, in order to save some time.
Now for the only bad part of the day.
We stood in line for nearly 2 ½ hours just to clear customs and re-enter the US.
The line was many blocks long and slow moving.
Trent & Teresa took pictures and shared some with us so I promise to get those pictures to share with you dear readers and post them as soon as I can.
It was a good day but we are truly exhausted, so its off to bed early.
Another fine day awaits us for tomorrow.
Life is Good!
