We had an uneventful trip to Williams, AZ. We arrived and got set up just in time. It was cold and cloudy and began to rain and then sleet and then hail. It was cold (15 degrees) and windy all night. We began to have second thoughts about staying here. But the morning dawned bright and sunny with no wind, so we bundled up and took an exploring trip. We checked out the RV/hotel resort where we are parked and went to get our train tickets. We then decided to drive up to the Grand Canyon National Geographic Visitors center. What a crowd and lots of confusion. There were several bus loads of oriental people who couldn't speak English. Very noisy. We saw the IMAX movie and checked out some helicopter and plan tours. Don't know if we can justify $150.00 for a 20/30 minute ride. We finally found a very helpful Ranger who gave us some good tips and advice on seeing the GC.
On the way back to Williams, we visited the "Planes of Fame" air and car museum. Very interesting museum. Beautiful exhibits. Some photos are attached. While there we received a phone call and two more couples in our group had arrived in Williams. So we headed on back to meet them and after a short visit, we had dinner and turned in. Still cold, but no wind.
Today we are up early due to a phone call from home. The town where Wes' two sisters live, was hit by a tornado, so we had to make sure everyone was okay on the homefront.
Since we are up, guess we will get the laundry done and be ready for the rest of the weekend events.
