And then we were "robbed".

Yesterday dawned sunny and beautiful with no wind. A great day for a visit to the Canyon. We met our group at the train depot and boarded the Grand Canyon Railroad train. It was a fun and uneventful ride to the Canyon. Upon arriving at the Canyon we were herded onto tour buses. We were driven from one viewpoint to another until time for lunch at the Yavipai Inn where we were herded into the cafeteria and had 20 minutes to eat and make a pit stop. Then we were herded back onto the bus and taken to another viewpoint for a quick stop. After which we were delivered back to the train depot where we were herded back onto the train for the ride back to Williams. All day long, we felt pretty much like cattle - herded here and herded there. But we were happy cattle, because we got to see the GRAND Canyon.

However, we got some good photos and had a good visit/reunion with our friends. Our views of the Grand Canyon were awsome and, I understand, only available to those on tour buses or walking/hiking. The downside was that we never had time to just sit and enjoy and absorb the views. You need some time to take in the spirit of the place as well.

We would reccommend the train ride etc., although it is pretty expensive. But do go back in your car and tour the east end of the south rim and take your time.

We plan to take the whole day tomorrow (Monday) and take a helicopter ride in the morning and then spend the afternoon touring the east end of the south rim on our own. Hopefully we will be able to get some good sunset photos. Will let you know more about that in the next post.
