Incense Burning in KL Chinatown

A good subway and transportation makes this city of 1.5 million easy to explore, though our hotel was so centrally located that we walked everywhere.

In the relative cool of the mornings and evenings, we explored Little India, Chinatown (Petaling Street, Central Market and the under-construction Sri Mahamariamman Hindu Temple) and Merdeka Square - where Malaysia celebrated independence with the raising of their flag in 1957. We ran into an 82 year old British guy at our hotel who had served in the military before Malaysian independence and told us he was really enjoying seeing the changes since when he was here as a twenty-year-old soldier. What an experience!

We've been pleasantly surprised by Malaysia. Such warm, friendly people and delicious food (what's not to like blending Malay, Indian and Chinese cuisines?).
