We went from Tuscon, AZ to Tempe, AZ, because we wanted to visit with some friends who lived in Scottsdale, AZ and because we had not been there before and wanted to see what it was like. We found out that it was very, very hot. It was nice to see our friends, but, it was just plain too hot for our tastes. Of course, people always say that it is not so bad because it is a dry heat. Enough said! So, we saw our friends and decided to move on. We had planned to go to Las Vegas, but, in light of the heat wave, we canceled and instead headed to Flagstaff, AZ. Flagstaff is actually at a pretty high altitude, so, it was really quite comfortable. It was getting into the 50's in the evening. We had also planned on going to Lake Powell after Las Vegas to see Antelope Canyon and then onto to Durango Colorado to ride the Durango – Silverton Scenic train. We got notice, however, that the train had been canceled due to fires in the Durango area. WE, however, did get a reservatio at the Glen National Recreation area's Wahweap Campground so that we could tour Antelope Canyon which is on Navajo Tribal Lands near Lake Powell.

The pictures that we have posted for this date are just for Lake Powell. We drove up from Flagstaff and stayed at the Wahweap Campground on Lake Powell, in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. It is difficult to get reservations in this campground, but, well worth the effort when successful.
