Jennie Cullen, Jim Betz, and I decided to try some of the craft brew pubs in Cuenca. We started at Cuatro Rios Beer Garden and Coffee in a house in the historic blacksmith district called El Vergel on Calle Las Herrerias. The owner Edy Ayala is a pioneer in artesanal beer in Cuenca. They offer 4 bottled beers: Cuatro Rios Rubia Pale Ale, Double Citra IPA, a honey wheat beer, and a stout. They also had two beers on tap.
From there we walked to LaCraft which is built in 2 shipping containers and has a comfortable bar with an amazing number of beer selections. We were served delicious burgers too.
Finally we stopped at Jodoco Pub which is owned by a Belgian man. It is located on Plaza San Sebastian.
Artisan beer bars in Cuenca are the latest thing.
