Traverse Bay RV Resort

Walking at Cinch Park

SailBoat on Traverse Bay

Free Movie on the Bay

Our GPS almost took us right past our stop at the Travers Bay RV Resort but fortunately I spotted it as we went by on route 72. We are now set up in one of the prettiest parks in which we have stayed. We are paying a high rate for the privilege.

Traverse Bay RV Resort is beautiful and would get our highest rating if only they had good internet. Unfortunately, there is rarely serviceable internet at our site.

Soon after we arrived, I figured out that we were here during the Traverse City Film Festival. We have seen only one film since leaving Florida. This week I saw five. Every one of them was worth seeing. The list included, The Big Sick, Flames, 500 Years, Newton, and I Am Not Your Negro. Sue attended three of the five.

We are both working on overcoming the ravages of aging. Sue continues to improve with exercise against her bursitis/sciatica issues. Meanwhile, I am taking a two-week hiatus from running to allow my left knee to recover from some strain issues.

In the meantime, we have been making the 5-mile drive into Traverse City about twice a day. Some of those drives were for films. One was across town to PetSmart for Annie’s beauty treatment. Sue made a couple solo trips to walk along the bay and we made a couple trips together for the same purpose. We also went to dinner a couple of times and to church.

During the week, we did considerable walking around the RV park which is quite large and scenic. We also attended a free burger dinner in the clubhouse on Thursday and Sue stayed around for part of the dance that followed.

Yesterday we drove to Cinch Park near downtown Traverse City for a film and a stroll. The Bijou on the Lake Theater is located near Cinch Park and that was where “I Am Not Your Negro” was playing. After seeing the film, we walked around the park where they were preparing for the outdoor showing of a movie. There was a large crowd forming in front of the air-filled screen on the shore of the bay.

Tomorrow we will head north on route 31 with a reservation at Mill Creek Campground in Mackinaw City next on the calendar.
