Today I took my sick little Canon PowerShot camera to Precision Camera to have it evaluated. It would have cost me about $200 to have it repaired and I’d still have an old camera (2008 vintage). I decided to bite the bullet and buy a new little camera that I can carry in my purse. I can hardly wait to give it a trial run.
Since I insist on one with a viewfinder, my choices were very limited. Nowadays only a few high-end ones have viewfinders. Wouldn’t you know? Anyway, I bought a Sony DSC-RX100 III Cyber-Shot digital camera. I couldn’t talk the salesman into giving me a discount; he said that Sony makes them sell at a specific price, so they can’t give any discounts. However, he did give me a free SanDisk SDHC 32-gigabyte ULTRA 20mb/s memory chip. I also can attend a free class and get fifty free 4x6 prints, as well as discounts on other services.
I doubt that I will do anything about the misbehaving Olympus camera because it is even older than the Canon. It has already been repaired once in 2006.
