A couple of us wanted to visit Tokyo Disneyland, so we left about 6:30 am via Shinkansen (the famed Bullet Train), to Tokyo. It’s 319 miles, 513.6 km. After 2.5 hours (at about 166.77 mph), transferred to another JR line and got to Disneyland about 11 AM.
We had hoped that there would be very few school children, but we were wrong. The place was teeming with grade school and high school kids! Later, I found out that September and October are when school kids visit important historical sites, and the last day is spent “someplace fun,” i.e., Disneyland! What a surprise!
Lines were long for every attraction, but we managed to ride on the Pirates of the Caribbean and a few others. Everything in the park was Halloween themed. Kids are the same everywhere, enjoy getting dressed up, eat food they don’t get at home, get tired, and have melt-downs.
Had a nice dinner at the Blue Bayou restaurant before emerging into the early evening darkness, made magical by the Halloween lights and pumpkins everywhere.
Another long trip home, arriving about 11:30 PM. Quite a different day from visiting tranquil Japanese gardens! I ended up with a painful blister, but the day was memorable in many ways.
