We spent 3 nights at Lake Itasca State Park where the headwaters of the Mississippi are located. We had a great view of Lake Itasca from our campsite. There are hiking and biking trails all through the park. Many people bring their own boats and there is a boat rental in the park for canoes, kayaks and pontoon boats. The weather was cold and rainy while we were there so we didn't get a chance to go out on the lake. We went to the headwaters of the Mississippi River where you can walk across on the rocks (lots of kids were doing it but it was too cold for us Georgia folks). We walked across on a log. We also went on the wildlife drive and saw some beautiful old growth forest and several different lakes.
