Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

Our day began at the Grand Canyon and ended in Gold Canyon.

We were ready to leave our rooms a few minutes before 7:00 and rolled south through Tusayan, on to Williams and then to Flagstaff, where we turned off of I-17 to Hwy 89-A which led us through the beautiful Oak Creek Canyon and on to Sedona.

We stopped to enjoy a nice breakfast at a place in Oak Creek Canyon that Marilyn & I had discovered many years ago, called Junipine Resort.

After refueling ourselves we continued our drive to Sedona and spent lots of time taking pictures, while the Oohs and Aahs were the primary words exchanged.

We passed by the Tlaquepaque Art Village, knowing we would be back before we headed on to Phoenix, and drove to the Chapel in the Rock.

We paused again for pictures and a prayer at this beautiful, peaceful place.

After some time here we drove back to town and parked inside the walls of Tlaquepaque.

We spent the next few hours strolling through the various passageways and exploring the beautiful artwork on display at the shops.

It was a bit after noon when we decided to continue south toward our Arizona home in Gold Canyon.

That drive took us a little bit less than three hours, in spite of slowing nearly to a stop, for two accidents, in the Scottsdale area.

We pulled in at our resort right at 3:00 PM and had time to unload and relax before getting ourselves ready for a good time with our friends.

It was Ginger’s birthday and we had plans for a fun evening at the Mining Camp Restaurant, where they serve a dinner family style and then have a live music and comedy show.

Jesse & Ginger drove over to pick up Bob & Janet while Trent & Teresa drove from the resort next door to pick us up.

It was only a half an hour drive to the restaurant and we enjoyed the company of these good friends all the way.

The food, entertainment, and company were all fun and enjoyable, assuring a good time for all of us.

Back at the resort, our evening continued as we drove over to Jesse & Ginger’s Site for Cake and Ice Cream with more conversation and laughter.

It was past my bedtime when we arrived back home, and we looked forward to a good night of sleep in our own bed.

Life is Good!
