As we knew that high winds were forecast for the day, we were on the road by 7am, and there were winds, but nothing like what hit after we arrived in Hurricane, where gusts hit 35mph. It was a beautiful ride up through the desert, with Saguaro cacti and some Joshua Trees evident. It was also a stressful ride, with the “spaghetti bowl” in Las Vegas, a convoluted interstate interchange, the pull down through both the Colorado River basin, and the long Virgin River gorge. But we made it with John’s good driving.
We arrived at WillowWind around 2:30, and while we were in the office, Marty and Pat recognized our RV and joined us for hugs all round in the office. We found our site, set up, and headed for the gas station – we were running totally on fumes, after that drive with a headwind. Once back, Ernie arrived, and then Marty and Pat came for happy hour. We all enjoyed good conversation. Marty and Pat joined us for dinner at The Main Street Café, now under new owners and open for all 3 meals – great food. We are done for the night.
