Visiting Family in Deming
Oct 28, 2012
|This was a great day for travel. We were up and at ‘em early this morning.
The weather was perfect as we drove from Alamogordo to Deming, NM, just 2 ½ hours away.
The only difficulty was a mountain in the way as we drove Hwy 70 to Las Cruces. We climbed steadily to about 5850’ as the truck labored a bit, getting down to less than 40 mph at one point.
One of the good things about the drive today was that Marilyn's car averaged 49.4 mpg.
I like that car more every day. LOL
We were all set up at Little Vineyard RV Park well before noon and drove to a nice place for a bite to eat.
My cousin Cathy, and her husband Darrell, have lived here in Deming for quite some time and they have a wonderful family.
We enjoyed our visit and a delicious meal in their nice and very comfortable home.
We sure had a good time talking about family history and a few “Do you remember…….?” moments.
I can only say that it was wonderful to spend time with family that we haven’t seen in a long time.
We sure hope that we can return again some day.
Tomorrow we will drive to Arizona, giving us the sixth state on this journey.
We will meet friends, Jesse & Ginger, in Benson, and will spend some time exploring Tombstone and Bisbee the next day.
Life is Good!
