Breakfast at Black and White cafe with a smashed avo bagel and a yummy coffee was a great start before the sad part of our day - saying goodbye to our AVSEC ring ins..... beautiful funny ladies.
Hopped in our cars Dunedin bound.... lunch time saw us arrive in Oamaru and on the advice of Mel ( another AVSEC girl) we headed down to the harbour area to the historic precinct.
There was brewery where we had lunch... I had homemade tomato soup and a ginger beer made at the brewery. Not too bad a drop.
A wander around the streets of this area and the harbour showed us a very pretty area steeped in history. At the end of the area was the steampunk museum - steampunk is a fun quirky genre of science fiction involving steam machines and also a quirky fashion style to go with. Mad Max and Dr Who include Steam punk in their movie/show. One of the Golden Oldies teams ( assume from Oamaru) dressed in Steampunk style last night.
DOG aka Heel may or may not have visited all these places and turned up in odd places!
From here we had about an hour to go to get to Dunedin. Not long down the road we saw the sign for Moeraki boulders . These borders are somewhat randomly “ dropped “ onto the beach and are or were very round and some have cracked open like eggs... looks quite bizarre...
Shortly after this the rain arrived and we had a very wet drive into Dunedin which in the dismal conditions looks to be a beautiful town with some different architectural buildings to the rest we have seen... beautiful terraced houses and very classical heritage buildings and houses. Can’t wait to get out and about in Dunedin tomorrow after our first mission - the Cadbury chocolate factory ....
