Our trip from Russellville, AR to Seminole, OK was a boring 216 mile drive along I-40. It was so uneventful I put the cruise control on within five minutes of leaving the campsite and except for stepping on the brake once for construction, never touched a pedal till we got off I-40 a quarter mile from the new campground! I-40 through eastern OK has improved since our last trip through except for about 30 miles starting at the OK/AR border.
We are staying at the Bar H Bar RV Park
which is located as part of the Bar H Bar Travel Center which is a pretty nice place to stop for gas, etc. as well. We have a 100 amp full hookup site which is very long and level concrete - the jacks hit the ground and we were level! It also has a nice concrete patio which I doubt gets used much. No that 100 amps isn't a typo - the site has two 50 amp connections for the rigs a lot bigger than us. It's very close to I-40 so I suspect it will be a little noisy come sleep time but the price is right -$20! The worst thing about it is our site is about 50 feet from the restaurant exhaust so we stay hungry anytime we have a window open.
After we got set up, we went into Seminole to find my childhood home and high school. Locating them was not difficult and they looked much as they did over 50 years ago unlike the town itself which has changed dramatically. The old brick main street we used to drag as a teenager is pretty well closed up and all the retail spaces are now located on what used to be the outskirts of town.
Tomorrow, we head for a week's stay at Norman, OK to visit my relatives which live in nearby Goldsby. Hopefully there will be a site open at the fairgrounds.....!
