|Thu, 05 May: On the "hard" again...
We're back! After 55 days aboard the ms Prinsendam we returned to Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale Florida this morning. We delayed our disembarkation for a bit, eventually going ashore about half past eight. We located our luggage with no problem and cleared immigration and customs without a hitch.
We took a cab to the airport where we got our rental car and headed west out of the "big city" to US 27 north and then FL 66 west to US 17 and the Thousand Trails Peace River park. We stopped for lunch enroute, paying for food after 55 days aboard a ship was a novel concept.
Carpes were in excellent shape and both the coach and car started without a hitch. Unlike the situation when we arrived in late February, we were told to "just pick a site that you like". No "auction" for a 50 ampere site. We found a nice open 50A site with a clear shot at the sky for our solar and satellite needs.
We unpacked and Bob stowed the luggage in the basement. Dinner was at a Chinese place and then a stop at nearby Wal*Mart for eggs & other necessities. The fridge was still cooling down so we held off major purchases till tomorrow.
Back home and Happy Hour. To bed around nine as we were two tired campers. Boy, was it ever good to be home!
Sun, 08 May: We had a busy day Friday as we had to return the rental car to the agency in Avon Park, some 20 miles east. We arrived in good time and got that taken care of. Then back to Zolfo Springs where we picked up eight weeks accumulation of mail. It was in a huge and heavy box.
Then a stop at Winn-Dixie (they have a new store in Wauchula) for staples, and back to the coach to sort mail. Sandi got some blood drawn on Friday with the results sent to her doc at Mayo Arizona.
Yesterday & today were busy days getting caught up with our lives. We're pretty much on top of things, or at least as "on top" as we'll ever be. Tomorrow we'll relocate to the Atlantic coast in the Hobe Sound/Jupiter area for a week.
