This is the Continental Divide in New Mexico along I-10! Can you...

283 miles today. We made it out of Texas, finally! We are now in New Mexico!

Lordsburg is a nice town. Being on I-10 and the railroad gives it a certain character like all the others with travel services, but I like the fact that the town is laid out in a small circle instead of the 'strip' like most of the others.

There is a lot of open countryside out there, and we saw some of it today. Except for El Paso, West Texas is wide open. New Mexico is pretty similar.

One thing we found really bizarre: We were driving on I-10 in New Mexico along a really flat stretch, and out of no where comes a sign telling us that we are crossing the Continental Divide! No mountains, not even a hill!

It seems like we had not yet fully adjusted to Central Time, because we were rising a retiring early (especially the cats!). And now we are on Mountain Time. Driving west is hard because he cats are very resistant to changing their meal times, even though dawn and dusk change, so that they want their breakfast awfully early according to the clock!
