The 89 miles from Bruce Crossing, MI to Ashland, WI was a short trip with about half of it covering the same area we had been through on the Ontonagon trip so not a whole lot of travel pictures. We were able to find a real nice site in Kreher Park and set up shortly after noon, having water and 50 amps, so-so Verizon, and we had to maneuver a little bit to get the satellite around the one lone tree around us.
We didn't do much else on that day or the next but relax. Tuesday we headed for Bayfield, WI and took the 3¼ hour Apostle Island Cruise. This was much like the Pictured Rocks cruise but the only real scenic area was the sea caves at the northern most island: Devil's Island. It is not sheltered by any of the other islands and receives the full impact of the wind-driven waves on its north shore. Other than the 30 minutes spent at Devil's Island the rest of the tour was just a relaxing tour looking at boats on Lake Superior and enjoying the sub 70° temperatures! I did include a few photos of the trip.
Wednesday we just lazed around the Mothership again. Is this starting to seem repetitive?? Yep, we're retired and loving it!! Even though the temperature got up into the 70s, we had a nice breeze and didn't need the air conditioner at all.
Thursday , we went into Ashland to see the Ashland Murals
which are magnificent. They are so real you feel like you are really in the picture with them, especially the storefront scene.
Tomorrow, we head for South Range,WI which is a little east of Superior, WI. We plan on spending four nights there while visiting a couple of state parks to see their falls.
