|Sat, 26 Jun: A quick 130 mile drive took us from Pierre, SD to Valentine, NE. We were on US 83 all the way, a twenty mile section of which runs on I-90. We started out in a drizzle, which continued off and on for the first hour. Then it turned partly sunny, warm, humid, and breezy.
Valentine is a short distance south of the state line, and the RV park is even closer—a mere four miles south of the South Dakota / Nebraska line.
Today's crossing into Nebraska was auspicious. Nebraska was the only one of the fifty (not fifty-seven as our "messiah" would have you believe!) states he had not visited. He is now an official "fifty stater". Nebraska also marks the thirty-seventh state we've visited in Carpe Diem.
We are in a full hookup RV park after four nites of boondocking in the National Park and at various commerical parking lots. Time to replenish or empty (as appropriate) our water tanks and prepare for our final push to Iowa. If all goes well we should be in Forest City midweek.
