John & Sandra Expedition to OZ,NZ, Fiji Thailand & Singapore travel blog

The last day of our drive along the Sapphire Coast from Melbourne to Sydney.

As we left Batemans Bay, we head down a 5 mile long dirt track to Pebbly Beach on the premise that you could see Kangaroos on the beach – we were not disappointed as we reached the beach area, a male kangaroo hopped by and we soon saw a mother and joey as well. Pebbly Beach also happen to be a picturesque spot in its own right and we could have stayed all day – but a long drive on to Sydney lay ahead.

Now I am a great believer that when something is renewed it should be greatly improved and it is safe to say that new South Wales is much better than the old one, even if the inhabitants of both keep telling you how good they are a rugby!

Our arrival in Sydney saw us complete this epic drive from Adelaide, via Melbourne to Sydney. In all over 1500miles of scenic drive – coast and country, river and rocks – wild animals and farm hers, blue skies and turquoise seas. We would do it all again and see some other things we missed as well.

We met up with Johns Dad again in Sydney and checked in to our hotel and were rewarded with a room with a view over The Harbour Bridge.

Three days now to reflect, before we finish our Oz adventure and head on over to Kiwi Land. We might even take a few days off from our journal postings !
