|A one month stay to an unknown destiny evolved into a four month stay. The fellow RVer's at Kofa Mountain Park became a family away from home. While driving out of the park well wishers lined the road waving in a queenly manner! The previous evening we had one of our famous suppers with Minnesota Larry making a BIG pot of stew over the fire, the rest of us bringing the other "essentials" of a complete meal. Often we joke regarding the state of the stock market(what else is there to do). Since all are on a fixed income, we are experienced at assembling a nutritious, tasty hobo meal. Wild animals, you completely exceeded our expectations!! Crossing the Colorado River, we are now in California! Brilliant desert colors line the roadway. I don't have any "fly-by" pictures this time. Snapping the camera while going 65 mph is frustrating. The x-ray tech in me feels the need to frame the picture more appropriately. Somehow we are below sea level in some areas today; however, the snow capped mountains are not far off! Makes for very pretty scenery. The highlight of today was visiting the Gen. Patton Museum. The displays, a 20 minute movie, outside exhibits, and the memorial walls were quite engaging. I left with the impression Gen. Patton is an extraordinary example of leadership, even today. Did you know he donated his salary to the military relief fund? Hey, big business, did you hear that? He lead by example. For the next few days we are in Indio. Salton Sea and Joshua Tree NP are calling for our attention. Indio appears to be a town in the final stages of refurbishment. Landscaping, lovely southwestern style mall groups, two BIG/lavish casinos, and restaurants. I will include some of these pics on the next writing. We just want to say,"Welcome back to the USA, Dee, Naomi, & Kai". Thank you for serving our country!
