First Snowbird Adventure - Winter 2008 travel blog

Final day of vacation is here! We're on the road from Lethbridge to Calgary today, but first we need to take care of the motor home that's been our residence for the past two months. After unpacking at home, she will go into storage again, and it's only mid-March and we could get some freezing temperatures, so we have to winterize the water system and do some cleaning. A large part of those chores will be accomplished in Lethbridge before we leave, hopefully only leaving the unpacking when we get home. This is one of the reasons for such a short trip today (or longer trips in the last two days).

For interest sake, we spoke to a camper in Lethbridge who had driven from Salt Lake City in one day. An impressive (but possibly dangerous) 13 hours. He had driven from Yuma the previous day and had stayed at the campground just down the street from where we were.

The drive to Calgary was not windy and was therefore uneventful. Elaine drove the car for about 50km, just to make sure it was charged and working well (it was). We stopped at Roy's in Claresholm for lunch and arrived at our front door at 2:00pm. Unloading the motor home took the balance of the day and we think that laundry might be done by Easter, but there are no promises.

This is the penultimate (second last) entry for this trip. We will provide a final one that summarizes the whole trip and provides some statistics for those interested. At this point, we're tired and happy to be home; but very happy we went on this first of many snowbird adventures.
