The trip up from Nebraska yesterday was a nice ride. We had good weather and good roads except for one two-mile stretch where the road no longer existed and we went down a muddy path. You know how in Florida when they want to work on a road, they put blacktop down along side the ride being worked on. Well, they don't do that here. They just tear up the old road and send you down the dirt right-of-way next to it.

We stopped in Mitchell, SD on the way up to see the Corn Palace

(see Julie, I told you I would see it :) ). Pretty amazing place. A lot of work goes into making the murals

out of natural corn cobs.

We are staying in a campground at Wylie Park in Aberdeen, SD. This is a really nice city park with all kinds of things to do for the visitors. Pretty remarkable for a town with less than 25,000 residents. Besides the campground, it has a large lake with boat and canoe rental available; a large water slide; a go cart track; a water bumper car ride; miniature golf; a small zoo; a large picnic area; and a place called Storybook Land which is very amazing. Doris even got to plow a corn field.

Storybook Land has a scene from every storybook character you can imagine. I have included photos of a couple of them but ALL of the characters are there in the park. Some even feature integrated playground equipment like the slide in the Jack and Jill display.

It also has a carousel, train and balloon ride available. They also have several small playgrounds with unique features like the Ice Cream Cone slide.

Storybook Land also contains an area dedicated to the Land of Oz with Munchkins, Dorothy, Scarecrow and all of the other characters. They even have a room with a tornado in it you can walk through.

Tomorrow, we will be on the road again. We plan on getting to Grand Forks, ND unless we get sidetracked along the way. This is Indian territory, ya know!!
