Back at home base

|UPDATE: BACK AT HOME BASE- Maryville, Tennessee
Well, we are back home getting ready for the next run. At this time we are scheduled to head out to Rocky Bayou State Park Florida around the first week in September. Per the schedule we will be there until the last of September and then run up to Henry Horton State Park, Tennessee for the month of October.
Also, we have been offered a volunteer job with the National Parks at Fort Sumter National Monument and Charles Pinckney National Historic Site, located in Charleston, SC for when ever we can put two months together to get the training completed. So, we will need to consider that opportunity, possibly for next year. What do you guys think? Has anyone been to these historic places? Let us know by going to the guest book and leaving a message if you want to and we will get back with you.
Over the next few weeks we will get the
Cougar and the "Beast" ready for the road. The pull down to the gulf coast is about 500 miles, so we need to put some extra coins back for fuel. We are anticipating higher fuel costs in Florida than here, and we think we will not be able to make runs back to homebase during this time due to the distance and added cost for fuel that we would incur. Anyone wanting to contribute to the cause may send it directly to Chris as she is the keeper of the dough. Just kidding!!!
Hope to see some of our relatives that live in the Florida Panhandle during our volunteer work at Rocky. James / Glenda and family as well as Betty Jean and family live just north of Panama City about an hour away. It will be nice to meet up with them and act up a little.
So, let us all sit back and relax and enjoy the closing hours of summer and the anticipation of the upcoming fall season that always brings a fresh cool breeze and the first hint of colder weather on the horizon. It is always this time of year that I get a little sad thinking about the little kids that have to go back to school. When I was a little boy, man, I hated to do that after being able to sleep in everyday, go to the pool or just hang out with my buddies.
You know, come to think about it, its just like that now for us. Since Chris and I have "retired", every day is Saturday!(or Sunday and that is the day we go to church)!!
Yep!! I think we are gonna like this lifestyle!
In Dad's memory the ADVENTURE continues!!
