20,000 leagues under the sky, 2004- travel blog

14000km from Hong Kong.

More usually known by it's German name of Auschwitz. Suitably grim weather to visit it in, I didn't find it as harrowing as visiting S21 in Cambodia but it's still not a very pleasant place and was made even worse by the poor behaviour of many visitors who seem to think they are on a daytrip to Disneyland. Anyone who wants to have their photograph taken in front of a crematorium furnace is either a Neo-Nazi or wants their head examined. I was unsure about whether to take photographs or not, photography is allowed in the camp but not inside the buildings (not that it stopped the Disney crowd), still not sure if I'll post any on here or not, somehow it feels wrong.

I've put some shots up, the last 3 are actually of Birkenau, Auschwitz II.
