We had intentions of leaving early this morning, so I was up at 5am! After packing up, fueling up, draining tanks, refilling propane etc., it was 10:45am! We drove about 30 miles to Benson so we could restock our groceries and other supplies. We left Benson about noon, headed toward Tucson. We made good time, but the wind was blowing pretty good. As we got about halfway through Tucson, we hit a snag. A cement truck had overturned and was blocking the two right lanes of the highway. It was slow going for a while, but we WERE moving. Everyone got over into the left lane and then to the left shoulder of the highway. As we got close to the scene, the patrolman waved some trucks ahead of us on through and - you guessed it - we were stopped. I guess he saw our fifth wheel and decided we had time to spare. So - for about an hour we had a front row seat to watch some serious, heavy duty tow trucks lift the truck up and get it moved to the side of the road, so it could be towed away. Never did find out what happened. We didn't see any other vehicles that looked like they were involved, and never any emergency vehicles, but the truck was over on the driver's side, so I don't see how he could have escaped without injuries.
After that delay, we moved on to Eloy and fueled up and Wes took a short nap. I sat and watched all the trucks. We are looking for a new truck and I am trying to see as many different models etc. as I can to be sure I understand exactly what Wes is looking for.
We drove on to Gila Bend, where we spent the night at Augies Quail Trail RV Park. It is cold here. I sure hope it warms up soon. I am ready for warmer climates. The man at the gate said "Welcome to Sunny Arizona". "I didn't say WARM - only sunny". We agreed it was nice to see the sun. Again - a nice park, but a gravel parking lot with a few short trees and cactus. Good hookups and again, the right price. We rearranged our kitchen cupboards to store all the supplies we have and got the TV hooked up, so I could watch my favorite Tueday night shows. Wes was in a "piddling" mood, so he rearranged all the computer area cords and worked on his computer a little. He went to bed early and I watched TV. Both of our Palms had died, so he figured that out and got them running again.
We have good electric here, so will vacuum and clean the rig up before we head out tomorrow. We only have about 80 miles to drive to Yuma where we will spend the night at Jim and Jo Gass' lot. On Thursday, we will caravan up to Quartzsite with others. We plan to park at Boomerville, but as we have learned, plans frequently change. So, we will see where we end up.
