So much for quality assurance!

As Mr. Rogers would sing (for those of you who remember him) – “It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood.” After nearly a week of very cold temperatures – low teens at night and only high 50s during the day – we’ve gotten a much needed break. The sun is shining, the windows and doors are opened and we are happy with the 70 degree temperatures.

Our ProCom Blue Flame propane heater worked overtime this past week. It has turned out to be one of our best purchases for cold weather although I had my doubts. When we received it last year and opened it up, the first thing I noticed was the small instruction label. Instead of reading “Lighting Instructions” the label reads “LIGHING instructions.” I cringe when I see misspelled words in newspapers, books, and user manuals. To me, it’s a reflection on the manufacturer and I couldn’t help thinking – what else is wrong with this thing.” Well, luckily, it works fine.

We’re keeping busy at the park and meeting traveling SKPs who might, one day, be our neighbors. In order to lease a site at this park, you put your name on a waiting list (otherwise called the “hotlist”). When we first put our name on the hotlist, we were number 432. Now, three years later, we have moved down to 261. It could be another 5 years before our number is low enough to get one of the leased lots. Good thing we are not in a hurry. We have a lot of traveling to do. However, while staying at this park, we’ve met a number of Boomers who will probably be getting a lot about the same time as us.

We’ve kept quite busy these passed couple of weeks. I learned how to play pinochle but haven’t quite made it to the Texas holdem table yet. I might be a little bit intimidated by all the testosterone in the room :) We’ll be heading into Tucson on Sunday to attend a musical performance by the University of Arizona’s music and choral department and the following week the 36th Army Band at Fort Huachuca is playing in Sierra Vista. Can you tell that I really love music?

Life is good!
