We arrived in Yuma Wednesday afternoon and found the Gass' RV lot very easily. It's a great spot and plenty of room with hookups. We spent the afternoon visiting and relaxing. We had brought fish we caught from Aransas Pass, so we fixed those up for dinner. Janice and Dean dropped by. It was great to see them again. We have been in touch on the internet etc, but we have not actually seen them since Du Quoin Escapade. They are renting a lot in the area. We finally also got to meet Padraic and Willie. We have known about them and seen their blog etc., but never met face to face. This life is so great - we meet and reunite with so many really nice people.
Finally was able to get some more Kansas "snow storm" photos uploaded. If you are interested in some really good pictures of the snow "at home", go back to the Jan 5 blog entry and take a look.
Today, we are headed up to Quartzsite and will be camped at Boomerville. We hope to make connections with the Class of 05 too.
It is pretty nice here - in the 60's yesterday and sunny. The wind is kicking up today, so we will see what that brings. I understand from some reports on the news and from others traveling this way, that we were just ahead of the storm and road closures all the way from Texas to here. We pulled on to I-10 at Ft. Stockton and that is where they have closed the interstate a little ways to the east. Some friends are still stuck back in the southeast and in Texas because the roads were closed due to ice and snow storms. It seems like the whole US is getting pounded this winter.
We met a couple in Gila Bend yesterday from Saskatchewan, Canada. They drove south right through Kansas! They were so close to our home when they went through Scott City and Garden City. Their trip was delayed several days because they were snowed in at their home in Canada. Of course, we directed them through Tribune on their way home in the spring.
Next post will be from the great Q gathering.
