Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

We were anxious to get going this morning so it was hard to sit there sipping coffee when it was already daylight outdoors.

I kept telling myself that we are retired and there is no hurry.

We had a five hour drive to Topeka and a stop for fuel and a sandwich at Cameron, Missouri added another half an hour to that time.

We pulled in to Deer Creek Valley RV Park right at 1:00 PM and were all set up with left over Chinese food for lunch, by 1:45.

The trip was uneventful. Just the way we like them!

We did get a bit quiet as we passed the spot where our previous RV burned. You can still see the dark area on the side of the road where the fire burned the asphalt.

We spoke with Jennifer on the phone numerous times during the day.

Our friend, John, drove here to the RV Park to pick us up and drove us to his home. Lori greeted us and we began a nice visit with these two good people.

Sam & Rhonda arrived and then the kids began arriving with their spouses and fiancée’.

John grilled burgers and brats and Lori had made two kinds of home-made ice cream. One kind was called “Brown Bread” which I had never heard of, but it was delicious.

It was nearly 9:00 when we were returned to our RV site.

We stood outdoors talking with John for awhile, hating to say “Good Bye”.

John & Lori are very special young folks and it is a pleasure to have them for friends.

So, another fine day in the full-timer’s life comes to a close.

Tomorrow is another day when we’ll relax a bit and get to see more good friends.

Life is Good!
