Thank you for your loyalty and we look forward to you revisiting when we return

Thu, 10 Mar: A car trip, good friends, and putting the Journal on hold...

Yesterday, 09 Mar we put our coach and car in storage near Wauchula and drove a rental car to Fort Lauderdale. We're here for two days getting in the mood for an eight week cruise to the Med aboard the ms Prinsendam.

As we've previously observed, getting prepared for a cruise, especially a lengthy cruise, is a daunting and stressful time. This has been no exception, hence the extra day to calm down and take some deep breaths.

We arrived in Plantation FL a bit after four and got checked into our hotel. Bob did a good job of booking a suite for a nice per diem, just a tad above the budget places in this area. Even the budget hotels are north of $100/day with tax. He used the internet.

Once settled in we drove to Dania Beach to meet up with our good friends and shipmates Bobbie & Lee Powell. They flew in from Tucson earlier in the day and we drove to Granpa's Bakery for an excellent dinner.

Tomorrow we'll meet up again for lunch and who knows what else...

Fri, 11 Mar: Ready to cruise!!!

This is being written from the waiting area of the Port Everglades Cruise Terminal #26. We're checked in for our cruise and are just killing time till they board the ship. The worst and most stressful part is behind us and we're looking forward to almost eight weeks of cruise ship style R&R.

Yesterday was, in fact, a comparatively busy, yet laid back day. We grabbed breakfast at a nearby Taco Bell, dropped some mail at the post office, and returned to the hotel room for some catching up and double checking that we have what we need for the cruise. At noon we picked up the Powells at their hotel and we drove to Costco where we had lunch and did some last minute stocking up. While there Sandi had her Costco hearing aids cleaned and checked.

We returned the Powells to their hotel in late afternoon and stopped for take out enroute back to the hotel. A relaxing happy hour, reheated take out, and final packing were our evening's activities.

This morning we were up early and final packing. We loaded the bags in the car and headed back to Taco Bell for breakfast. Then we drove to the port and dropped off the checked bags at the ship.

Back to the airport to return the car and then a shuttle to the port where we were among the first to check in for the cruise. Which brings us to the present, sitting in the lounge waiting to board the ship.

We hope to continue with our monthly Missives while asea, and we'll resume these Journals upon our return in early May.

Till then, be well...
