Well it took us five hours to cover the 228 miles from Redding, CA to Carson City, NV due to a couple of significant construction delays. It then took us another hour to get into our site as we first parked in a site their computer had marked as out of service and they made us move though we found nothing wrong with the site and another coach stayed in it two days later??
We are staying at the Gold Dust West Casino RV Park which would be a great place with a little more care and a lot more tree trimming and/or slightly larger sites. You will notice there are no pictures from the rear since we are parked right up against the fence in the rear to get out of the road. The first site was a little larger but was harder to fit into due to the tree limbs and slide extensions. Other than that this is a great place to stay. We have 50 amps, full hookup and very strong Verizon and the park is an easy in and out to the highway. The tree was in the wrong place in our second site so I had to get out the portable dish but it was an easy setup near the rear of the Mothership.
Friday, we headed for Virginia City, which is a short drive from Carson City. Of course it is a typical old west tourist trap but was a lot of fun walking the board sidewalks and taking in the sites. We had been here several years ago and didn't find much different this trip.
Saturday and Sunday was spent watching football, what else???
Monday, we took a ride up the mountains and around Lake Tahoe. It was late Spring when we were here before so the mountains still had snow on them then and it was much prettier but the lake is still beautiful. On the way back, we went through downtown Carson City and looked at the government buildings there as well as the rest of main street. Carson City is unique in that it is the smallest state capitol in the US with a 2010 population under 60,000.
Tuesday was laundry and putzing day as we didn't do much but get ready to move. Tomorrow we head for Ely, NV for a couple of nights as we work our way back to New Mexico.
