How'd this get to Las Vegas?

We left Williams, AZ at 7:30am this morning and, after a nice leisruely drive, pulled into the Oasis RV Resort in Las Vegas at 12:30pm. The Oasis RV Park is very, very nice. It is pretty upscale for just $42 a night. We normally wouldn't pay that much for a park - but, we have paid more than that at places like Mt. Rushmore and Yellowstone. This park is much nicer than either one of those. The swimming pool and spa area is the best Paulette and I have ever seen in an RV Park.

After we got all settled in at our site and had lunch, we hopped in the truck, with Molly of course, and headed off to take our very first look at the Las Vegas Strip! Our park is only 10 minutes from the main casinos on the strip, so it was very easy to get there. Our first impression was that it's a little bit like driving through Disneyland! It's kind of difficult to tell what's real and what's Fantasyland!

First, there's New York and the Statue of Liberty, then there's The Venetian - complete with canals. Treasure Island is pretty neat as well as the monstor hotels and casinos like like Mandalay Bay, The Bellagio and the new Wynn hotel. At 2:30pm, the streets on the strip were just packed. One thing I learned pretty quick is the Las Vegs Strip is no place to be driving around if you're not sure of the traffic patterns - too many cars, taxis, buses and people everywhere.

We didn't even try to park downtown, just drove to the end of the strip, turned around and headed back to our RV Park - never dropped a "dime"! I really don't know if we'll even bother to go back down there again before we leave on Saturday. We wouldn't mind maybe catching a show, but, we've got Molly and we don't want to leave her alone here.

Tomorrow, I think we'll get out of Las Vegas for a bit and take a drive out to Boulder City to see the Boulder/Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. We were going to come into Las Vegas that way today from Williams because you drive right over the Boulder Dam. But, there were delays on the other side due to construction, so we took the alternate route through Laughlin, NV.

After we get back from Boulder, I think Paulette has a few places here she wants to check out. I'm hoping to get some pool time in tomorrow as it's going to be another beautiful day!
