Moved to Buckhorn in Kerrville
Mar 25, 2012
|Our plan was to leave at 8:30 this morning. We had less than 100 miles to travel but wanted to get through San Antonio before the traffic became too heavy.
We pulled out at 8:40 AM in fog and a very light rain, or maybe a heavy mist.
We went right through the heart of downtown on I-35 and I-10.
One hour and forty minutes later we arrived at Buckhorn Lake Resort.
An hour later we were checked in, set up, and had met several nice folks who stopped by to say hello.
We checked with Bob & Janet about going to a great restaurant we have visited in the past, for some lunch. They chose to remain here in camp so Marilyn & I took off.
Billy Gene’s is a wonderful restaurant with delicious food and plenty of it, so you do not go away hungry.
The restaurant sits right on the bank of the Guadalupe River and you have a choice to sit outdoors on the beautiful deck if you desire.
We had a really fine meal of roast beef, potatoes & gravy, baby carrots and green beans. Hot rolls and iced tea made the meal complete. We were tempted by the blackberry cobbler but chose to pass this time. We’ve eaten that cobbler before and it was “to die for” delicious!
Bob & Janet did great at fishing yesterday and as a result of that, they decided to have a fish fry late this afternoon. We took some home-made slaw that Marilyn fixed this afternoon, while Bob & Janet furnished the main part of the dinner.
Fried Catfish, Potato Wedges, and biscuits. All washed down with some really good iced tea. Yummy!
This has been a super nice day in the lives of us Full-Timers.
In the back of our mind, though, we think of Rick & Sherry, and our hearts are heavy.
Our prayer is that one day soon, they too will be able to say with conviction…..Life is Good!
P.S. Pictures tomorrow
