Sunny Surfers Paradise

Q1 The worlds highest residential building

High rise behind the beach

Main SP street kitted out with all the fast food places imaginable

Surfers Paradise we were told was like a sophisticated Blackpool but with sun. We missed the sun but we see the similarity.

Surfers is a mix of pretty good beach, high rise apartments and restaurants and bars. We have never seen so many apartments and we have been told 50% of them are not lived in for most of the year. This is definetly a holiday place. The most impressive building the newly opened Q1. This is the tallest residential building in the world and with 83 floors it certainly looms over the rest of SP. The penthoue suites are being sold for $10 million aussie dollars so they cost a pretty penny.

There were plenty of wannabe surfers carving up the sea and the surf schools seem to do a good business. So do the restaurants, the bars and the boutique shops. SP has a good vibe and on a sunny day it would of been more enjoyable although a day or two here is more than enough.

Day 231 complete
