Wanderings and Side Trips travel blog

We have been looking for a bigger truck to tow our fifth wheel and have not been able to find what we want, so Wes has decided maybe we should look at motorhomes instead. So, we left early today for the RV lots in Tucson. Gary and JoElla drove their vehicle and gave us lots of info on Winnebagos. We went to Beaudry RV first and found a salesman who gave us lots of education on mold and only wanted to sell us a well used Fleetwood. We also checked out the truck market there - no luck. After spending an hour (and some money) in Camping World, we stopped for lunch. Then on to La Mesa RV. We were greeted by Rich, a gregarious, friendly, fun kind of guy. He showed us several very nice used motorhomes, especially the last one which had not even been put out for sale on the lot yet. It was a very real possibility. We inspected it well and pushed and pulled everything, looked in, around, and over everything, checked out the basement compartments etc. It even had a good price! We even went for a ride and I drove it around a parking lot. This was becoming a bigger possibilty at every turn! We went back to the RV lot and Rich turned us over to his "partner" Nancy, the "closer". It took her about 5 minutes to annoy and offend us so much that we walked away from the deal.

The really bright spot in the day was Johnny Bencomo, a country singer who plays an 18 string guitar. We were entertained by his stories and songs for several hours this evening in the RV Park Clubhouse. We bought a couple of his CDs and will look for his appearances, so we can enjoy his music again.
