Swinging Bridge RV Park
Nov 14, 2011
|That pesky wind continued through the night but I didn’t hear it.
I guess the stress of driving in that horrible wind yesterday did me in as I fell asleep before 8:30 last night and was up at 4:30 this morning. I remember getting up once during the night but fell right back to sleep when my head hit the pillow again.
We left the Tom Sawyer RV Park around 9:00 this morning, drove through part of Memphis, TN and then we were in Mississippi.
The drive through Jackson, MS was stressful because of the traffic but the roads were good nearly all day today, and we are staying south of Jackson in a town called Byram, at the Swinging Bridge RV Resort.
I must say that they use the word “Resort” very casually. LOL
The office is closed from 12:00 noon until 2:30 PM, the discounts for Good Sam, SKP, etc are small ones, No internet here! Some of the sewer dumps do not work, the water was not available for about an hour after our arrival, and the place looks as if it could use some TLC.
On the positive side however, there is a BBQ restaurant within easy walking distance and I believe it has the best BBQ pork I have ever tasted! The place is called the “Tin Shed BBQ”.
All of us ordered the same special, which was a pulled pork sandwich, BBQ beans, potato salad, and drink (Think Sweet Tea), for $7.50.
The side dishes were also top notch delicious and we enjoyed every bite! In fact I thought seriously about buying some take out for dinner tonight.
I-55 South of Jackson, MS at Exit 85 in a strip mall called the Swinging Bridge Market. That is where you will find this treasure of an eating place.
Bob and I unhooked the trucks and drove a short distance to fuel up, then returned to park on our respective sites, and rest for awhile.
Tomorrow we are off to Bayou Segnette State Park in Westwego, LA.
Trent & Teresa will be there also and we expect the six of us will have a great time sightseeing in New Orleans on Wednesday.
I called Bryan Champaign for the swamp tour of Friday and we are all booked for that.
Fun, Fun, Fun!
Life is Good!
