Feasting on Roses

Pushkar Sunset

Pushkar Rooftops

Five hours by local bus, over bumpy roads, took us to Pushkar. Pushkar is a small (15,000 people) town which is a major stop for Hindu pilgrams who come here to bathe and pray at the lake. Unfortunately, several years of drought meant that the lake was dried-up, but the town's devoutness was still in full-swing with the entire town being meat and alcohol free.

Apart from walking around the town and lake, we watched some sort of festival happen that involved uniformed boys marching and town residents throwing rose petals in their path. The amusing thing was, the town's cows followed the parade and were happily feasting on the roses left behind. Very cute and happy cows.
