The lodge at Wakulla Springs

| 03-11-2108 The morning of March 9th was clear and a Florida cool 38 degrees. We drove about 40 minutes north to visit Edward Ball Wakulla Springs State Park. The temps warmed up to about 60 degrees by the time we arrived at the park. What a beautiful and special place this is. The azaleas were blooming in front of the lodge and they were attracting a lot of butterflies. We took an hour long pontoon boat guided tour of the springs area. We were told that about 400 million gallons of water flow up and out of this spring daily.!! The water was clear and we saw a lot of wildlife including manatees, gators, lots of different birds, turtles, and fish. Being a cooler day in March, there was only a total of 7 of us on the boat. It was a real special treat to be able to move around on the pontoon boat and we felt that our guide / captain was able to fully answer any questions that we had. The next day we found ourselves exploring nearby alligator point, bald point state park, and mashes sands beach. It was not exactly bikini weather, but we had a great time and gathered many shells, both small and large. We love sharing all our adventures but we must add that the pictures paint our story but to see all them in person is such a blessing. Take care and stay healthy, 2-Ole-Buddies |
