We hope that everyone had a Merry Christmas...we certainly did. I picked up dad and brought him over to the hotel for breakfast then we went up to our room to open presents.
In the last couple of years Prudy and I have started a tradition of getting each other five or six gifts each at the Dollar Tree store instead of buying other more expensive stuff neither of us need. It is a lot more fun and a heck of a lot cheaper. We decided to let dad in on the fun. We bought him several items that were functional and a few that were gag gifts.
Humor sort of runs in the Scott family and I think it started with my grandfather. He used to let late night guests know it was time to go home by saying to my grandmother; "Julie, we had better get ready for bed, it looks like our guests are getting tired and probably want to go home." In any case, dad enjoyed his gifts and we all had a good time.
We had Christmas dinner at The Sterling House where dad lives and it was very good. We stayed there the rest of the afternoon and then came back to the hotel and watched Forrest Gump for the umpteenth time. My oldest son Curtis is coming down tomorrow with the grand kids so we are looking forward to that.
