Today was the first day of SIGA 17th conference (a reunion for the participants for Ship for World Youth that David went on in 1998). There were a lot of speeches and formal events in the morning. In the afternoon we took a workshop called Vietnamese for Beginners. Vietnamese is a very hard language with lots of short words that must be said using the proper tone in order to convey the correct meaning as some words that sound virtually the same and can have 6 or 7 different meanings. In the evening we attended a formal dinner with other participants and exchanged gifts. As our gift we offered a nicely framed picture of Rideau Canal and the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa during Winterlude Festival.
